FAA Enforcement

Carstens & Cahoon, LLP has an excellent track record representing repair stations, pilots, and mechanics in enforcement actions brought by the FAA. The firm handles all matters related to FAA enforcement actions, from receipt of the FAA's letter of investigation through appeals to the NTSB or federal court. This includes consultation with clients regarding the proper response to a letter of investigation, participation in informal conferences with the FAA, and examination of witnesses in hearings before an administrative law judge, as well as appealing any decision of the administrative law judge to the NTSB. We work hard to resolve matters without judicial intervention, and have succeeded in persuading the FAA to drop or settle many enforcement actions before any hearings were ever held.

Because a number of the firm’s attorneys are pilots, including civilian and former military pilots with commercial and instrument ratings in various fixed-and rotary-wing aircraft, and one who is also a licensed A&P, the attorneys are intimately familiar with the regulations that apply to pilots, repair stations, air carriers, and mechanics. Armed with this knowledge, Carstens & Cahoon, LLP can provide an expert defense against actions brought by the FAA.
